Join Physical Therapists To Support The Uninsured

March 15th, 2010

March 14-20 is national Cover The Uninsured Week. Join forces with the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) to draw attention to the problem of the nation’s uninsured by getting actively involved. There are currently 46 million uninsured Americans, including 9 million children.

“Physical therapists are acutely aware of the impact that the lack of health insurance has on the needs of our patients,” said APTA President R Scott Ward, PT, PhD. “The health of our patients is our number one priority; we are happy to join in the pursuit of raising awareness about the plight our fellow uninsured Americans and how we can be part of the solution.”

For online resources and more information on how you can join this effort, visit http://covertheuninsured.org/.

The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) represents more than 74,000 physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and students of physical therapy nationwide. How You Can Help In Haiti

February 12th, 2010

Since the earthquake in Haiti, our physical and occupational therapists have been wondering how they can help out with the relief efforts. The need is great and will continue for many months. There are several ways to provide assistance: you can donate money, donate medical supplies, volunteer or accept a contract position as a rehab therapist. The APTA has an excellent page devoted to this topic. Read more about the best and most secure ways to contribute money, supplies and time to the Haitian relief effort.
